THIS IS MY FIRST CONFERENCE – WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW OR DO?

WHAT IS THE DRESS CODE FOR THE CONFERENCE?
- The dress code is business casual. We recommend dressing in layers and bringing a sweater or jacket, as it is difficult to predict the temperature in a room where you have a large number of people gathered. We also recommend wearing comfortable shoes!
ARE THERE EARLY-BIRD DISCOUNTS AVAILABLE?
- Yes, early-bird discounted registration is available until May 29 at 5:00 pm ET.
CAN I REGISTER AND BUY A TICKET AT THE EVENT?
- The deadline to register is August 6 at 5:00 pm ET. No registrations are accepted onsite.
CAN I GET A REFUND IF I CHANGE MY MIND ABOUT ATTENDING?
- Registration cancellations or changes from in-person to virtual conference registrations must be made in writing and sent to Accounting@ForensicNurses.org by the dates outlined below.
- Cancellation requests for the in-person or virtual conference received by July 1, 2025, will be refunded at 50% of the registration fee. Refunds will not be made for cancellations on or after July 2, 2025, or for participants who register but do not attend.
- Requests to change a registration from the 2025 in-person conference to the 2025 virtual conference received by July 1, 2025, will receive a refund of the difference between the in-person paid registration fee and the virtual conference registration fee. Refunds will not be made for requests received on or after July 2, 2025.
- Transfer of registration fees to another person may be done without penalty with written notice given to IAFN home office at Accounting@ForensicNurses.org by August 6, 2025.
I WANT TO ATTEND A DIFFERENT SESSION. HOW DO I CHANGE MY SESSION?
- Login to your account @ https://www.forensicnurses.org/
- Click on the EVENTS tab, then My Registrations
- Click on 2025 IAFN Annual Conference< Modify Registration, Next
- There you will have the option to modify your sessions.
INTERNATIONAL ATTENDEES
- Some travelers coming to the United States need visitor visas. Click here to visit the U.S. Department of State website for additional details related to passports, visas, etc.
HOW CAN I RECEIVE A CONFERENCE BROCHURE?
- We have an interactive conference website instead of a printed conference brochure. The mobile app will be available in August. Check the General Information tab on the website or in the app for conference highlights, general information, and track descriptions. A checklist of sessions and a schedule at-a-glance can be downloaded from the conference website (below the left navigation menu).
WHAT NETWORKING ACTIVITIES OCCUR DURING THE CONFERENCE?
The entire conference is an opportunity to network with other like-minded people who “get it!” When you are here, you are with your people. Be sure to introduce yourself and talk to folks in the hallways, in lines, and before and after sessions.
There will be multiple networking opportunities for conference attendees, including:
- Monday night Dine-Around activities, where you sign up to attend dinner at a nearby restaurant with other conference attendees. Attendees love this as an opportunity to meet folks from all over the country for a deep connection.. Each individual is responsible for their meal.
- The Tuesday night Welcome Reception is a don’t miss event with music, dancing, and more.
- Each day, lunch is on your own, so you can go to lunch with friends or grab a quick bite from a vendor in the exhibit hall;
- Tuesday and Wednesday, head to the exhibit hall for breakfast and breaks to connect with other members.
- Connect with others via the conference website and mobile app. You can use the app to look up other attendees from your state or based on common interests and message them before the conference.
- Enjoy a relaxing Thursday night after the post-conference workshops by attending Late Nights at the Zoo. Stop by the IAFN booth in the exhibit hall to meet the IAFN staff and leadership team. We can’t wait to meet all of you!
IS WI-FI AVAILABLE?
- Free basic Wi-Fi will be available in the meeting space at the CHI Center. Wi-Fi is available in guest rooms at the Hilton for HHonors members and in the Marriott guest rooms. Check the mobile app for the meeting space access code. Click here if you would like to join the free Hilton HHonors program and receive free Wi-Fi in your room during your conference stay.
HOW DO I DOWNLOAD THE CONFERENCE APP?
- The app will be availalbe on August 1. At that time:

Install and open the app, select IAFN2025
Click download
Log in to the app using the same credentials you used to register for the conference
Note: If you downloaded the app last year, delete the app and reinstall it to avoid login issues this year.
WHAT MEALS WILL BE COVERED AT THE CONFERENCE?
- Tuesday and Wednesday: Breakfast is included
- Tuesday evening: Hors d'oeuvres and some beverages will be provided at the Welcome Reception
- Tuesday and Wednesday: afternoon snack breaks
I HAVE DIETARY RESTRICTIONS – WILL THEY BE ACCOMMODATED?
- IAFN can accommodate most dietary restrictions identified in advance. You must identify your dietary restrictions during the registration process. We cannot accommodate last-minute dietary requests on site.
CAN I CLAIM THIS YEAR'S CONFERENCE OFFERINGS ON MY NEXT CERTIFICATION RENEWAL?
- It depends. If you have already received notice of having achieved a passing score on the exam this year or have already renewed your SANE certification, congratulations! By doing so, you have ensured that you may claim on your next certification renewal any appropriate CE you earn at this year's conference. ("Appropriate" means that the session's content is listed on the Test Content Outline of the certification you are renewing.) If not, it will depend on your CE Accrual Start Date.
Need your CE Accrual Start Date? Check:
1) your last IAFN congratulations letter (for exam or renewal),
2) your certificate, and
3) the IAFN-Certified Nurses Registry (just search for your name).
For renewal purposes, you may submit any appropriate CE you accrue between your CE Accrual Start Date and Nov 1 of your recertification year.

HOW CAN I BECOME AN EXHIBITOR OR SPONSOR?

- The Registration Desk will be on level 1 at the CHI Health Center during the following hours:
- Sunday, August 17, 12:00 pm-5;00 pm
- Monday, August 18, 7:00 am-5:00 pm
- Tuesday, August 19, 7:00 am-5:00 pm
- Wednesday, August 20, 7:00 am-4:00 pm
- NOTE for Pre-conference Workshop participants: you are welcome to pick up your name badge and conference materials Sunday, August 17, to avoid lines Monday morning. If you are unable to pick up your name badge Sunday by 5:00 pm, your name badge will be waiting for you Monday morning, August 18, at the Davis Global Center workshop check-in desk.
