Susan Buxbaum, DNP, APRN, CPNP-PC, SANE-P, is a doctorally prepared Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at the Carousel Child Advocacy Center in Wilmington, NC. Under a Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) grant aimed at expanding the workforce of sexual assault nurse examiners in rural and medically underserved areas of Region 9, which includes Arizona, Nevada, California, Hawaii, and the U.S.-Affiliated Pacific Islands, she leads a team of experienced pediatric sexual assault nurses who provide hands-on simulation clinical skills training to new pediatric Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners. With over 25 years of clinical experience, Susan has significant expertise as a sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE) for both adult and pediatric populations.
