L. Kathleen Sekula, PhD, PMHCNS, FAAFS, FAAN, is a Professor at Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Sekula received her BSN from Duquesne University and her MSN and PhD from the University of Pittsburgh. She is a faculty member at Duquesne University and resides in Pittsburgh, PA.
Dr. Sekula created the graduate forensic programs at Duquesne (MSN, DNP, and PhD), which have advanced the recognition of forensics as an essential specialty in health care. In response to the need for better care for victims of sexual assault, she was awarded two 3-year HRSA Advanced Nursing Education/Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner grants (2018-2021 and 2021-2025). She holds the Noble J. Dick Endowed Chair in Academic Leadership at Duquesne. Dr. Sekula was inducted into the Academy of Nursing in 2011 and as a Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Nursing in 2023.
