Forensic Nursing Specialist

Gail Hornor is a pediatric nurse practitioner with over 35- years -experience in forensic nursing. Gail is currently a forensic nursing specialist with IAFN supporting the practice of forensic nursing across the nation and globally. Prior to joining staff at IAFN, she worked for many years at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus Ohio as a provider in the child abuse program where she performed multiple roles: medical provider in a hospital-based child advocacy center seeing children with concerns of sexual abuse, primary care provider for children in foster care, consulting on children admitted for concerns of physical abuse, and coordinating a team of pediatric sexual assault nurse examiners in the Emergency Department. She has authored more than thirty-five articles for peer-reviewed journals as well as 10 book chapters. She holds a diploma in nursing from Mount Carmel School of Nursing, a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Franklin University, a master’s degree in nursing from Wright State University, and a post-master’s pediatric nurse practitioner certificate from Ohio State University. In 2011 she earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Ohio State University.
