Forensic Nurse Manager

Breanna Heisterkamp is the Forensic Nurse Manager for the Hennepin Assault Response Team at Hennepin Healthcare in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She has been working as forensic nurse since 2018 and has served in various capacities during that time. As a certified forensic nurse examiner, she has cared for victims of all ages who have experienced sexual assault, intimate partner violence, strangulation, child abuse, and trafficking for the last 7 years. In addition to her direct work with patients, she leads the clinical, educational, and research efforts of the forensic nursing team. Serving as the Project Director for the HRSA ANE-SANE funded grant project at Hennepin Heatlhcare - Train to Retain: SANE Expasion in the Upper Midwest - for three years, she has developed innovative curriculum to train forensic nurse examiners. She also works with health care professionals, multi-disciplinary team members, and community agencies to present on topics relating to sexual and physical violence. She is dedicated to empowering a workforce of healthcare professionals and forensic nurses who have the knowledge and support to provide excellent, equitable care in every interaction.
