A university-developed simulation program trained nursing students to identify and care for human trafficking victims using online training modules, simulations, and trauma-informed practices. Students improved skills in recognizing cues, assessing risks, and initiating referrals. This pilot highlights simulation's effectiveness in addressing critical educational gaps and preparing nurses for vulnerable populations.
Learning Outcomes:
Increased knowledge about:
implementing a human trafficking simulation experience into nursing programs.
incorporating social determinants of health into human trafficking education.
filling the human trafficking education gaps for nursing students, practicing nurses, and APRNs throughout the country.
