In September of 2024, the Office on Violence Against Women, Department of Justice in collaboration with IAFN, released the National Protocol for Sexual Assault Medical Forensic Examinations Adult/Adolescent, 3rd ed., in doing so it should be a goal to revise and update local protocols to reflect these recommendations. In order to make these changes in the most effective and informed way possible, it is necessary to collaboratively examine current responses, identify potential gaps in service, and strategically tailor these recommendations to the needs of the community. In this session, the presenters will discuss the revisions to the national protocol and strategies for development and implementation of customized local protocols and ways to integrate updated recommendations into existing protocols to enhance the coordinated response to sexual assault.
