This 90-minute case study will start with a summary of scene death investigations and death certification processes. We will then walk through an example, covering photographs, interviews, written investigation narratives, and death certification. Afterward, the audience will break into groups to review scene notes and photos, write narratives, and determine preliminary causes and manners of death. A few groups will share their conclusions before the presenters offer theirs. The session aims to give forensic nurses an interactive, theoretical experience of the role of a Forensic Nurse Death Investigator through case study analysis.
