Dr. Suzanne Haney is a board-certified Child Abuse Pediatrician at Children’s Nebraska and Professor of Pediatrics at the University Of Nebraska Medical Center. Dr. Haney earned her medical degree from the University of Southern California and completed a residency in Pediatrics at Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth in Virginia. She spent 9 years as a physician in the Navy and has worked as a staff pediatrician at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in Virginia and Department Head of Pediatrics at U.S. Naval Hospital in Yokosuka, Japan.
Dr. Haney completed her fellowship in Child Abuse Pediatrics at Eastern Virginia Medical School and Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters and is currently the only board-certified child abuse pediatrician in the state of Nebraska.
Dr. Haney is the Division Chief of Child Abuse Pediatrics an the Interim Division Chief of Pediatric Palliative Care. She serves as medical director of Project Harmony, the Child Advocacy Center in Omaha. Dr. Haney’s other responsibilities include the Medical Director of Wellbeing for Children’s Nebraska and Assistant Dean for Faculty Development at UNMC. Nationally, Dr. Haney served as the chair for the Council of Child Abuse & Neglect of the American Academy of Pediatrics, is on the editorial board of the journal Pediatrics and sits on the subboard for Child Abuse Pediatrics for the American Academy of Pediatrics.
