Personal Statement
My name is Anna Becks, I have a rich background in emergency and forensic nursing. I immigrated to the United States in 1990, my English proficiency was honed through watching Rescue 911, igniting my passion for emergency medicine and advocacy. I began my career as an EMT shortly after high school, progressed to a paramedic in 2003, and earned my RN in 2016, quickly entering the field of Emergency Medicine. In 2019 I received my BSN from Ohio University. In 2020, I discovered my passion for SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) nursing at MetroHealth, leading me to my current role as Forensic Unit Manager, while still working as a bed side nurse in the Emergency Department on the weekends. I noticed a significant knowledge gap regarding the identification and care of human trafficking victims within healthcare, I developed a comprehensive education program that has notably increased victim identification both within hospital settings and county corrections. Our system went from zero victims identified to a total of 60 victims in less than two years. As a unit manager overseeing 22 nurses since 2022, I committed to enhancing my leadership skills to make a more profound impact on my community through both direct care and educational initiatives
