PERSONAL STATEMENT
Anna is an experienced registered nurse who has worked at the Department of
Emergency Medicine at Rush University Medical Center since 2001. Her interest in forensics
began early in her career while caring for sexual assault patients. She's been practicing as an
Adult Adolescent SANE in Illinois since 2018 and serves as the SANE Program Coordinator at
Rush University Medical Center. From scratch, Anna developed policies and pathways to build a
SANE Program that focuses on comprehensive medical forensic service, evidence-based
practices, legislative mandates, and the importance of empowering care and trauma-informed
care principles. She has built a team of compassionate, resilient, and dedicated SANEs
knowledgeable in forensic science and well-versed in jurisdictional processes. Rush University
Medical Center is designated as a Treatment Hospital, offering 24/7 SANE services. As a
nationally certified SANE-A, Anna has mentored and supported several SANEs in Illinois. Her
drive and commitment to the field of forensics are evident in her active membership of the
International Association of Forensic Nurses, where she currently serves as a director at large.
