Dr. Sally Henin is an accomplished board-certified Emergency Physician at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. For 24 years, she has served as Chief of Medical Operations / Medical Director of Forensic Nursing at Memorial Hermann Health System, where she has been a key leader in shaping the system’s approach to caring for patients who have been victims of sexual violence. Dr. Henin also previously served as Medical Director at Children's Safe Harbor, a Children’s Advocacy Center in Conroe, Texas, where she made significant contributions to the care of child victims of abuse.
Dr. Henin earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas, and completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan where she was chosen as Chief Resident. She is board-certified in Medical Quality by the American Board of Medical Quality, underscoring her commitment to the highest standards of medical care.
A recognized expert in forensic medicine, Dr. Henin is a Past Chair of the Forensic Medicine Section of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP). She is also a member of the Ray Helfer Society, a prestigious group of physicians dedicated to advancing the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and research of child abuse and neglect.
Throughout her career, Dr. Henin has actively contributed to numerous local, state, and national committees focused on best practices in the care of sexual assault survivors and victims of interpersonal violence. Her leadership in these areas has shaped policy and clinical guidelines for the effective response to sexual assault, human trafficking, and interpersonal violence.
In addition to her clinical and leadership roles, Dr. Henin is a sought-after speaker and educator, lecturing both nationally and internationally on topics related to emergency medicine and forensic medicine. Her expertise and passion continue to influence the practice of emergency care and forensic nursing on a global scale.
