Bren Ledbetter is a Forensic Nurse Examiner in the CARE Team at Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth, TX. She has undergraduate degrees in both nursing and biology and has been an RN since 2012. After working primarily in emergency medicine, Bren became a SANE in 2017. She has cared for survivors of sexual violence across the lifespan but has found her niche in pediatric nursing. Bren believes medical forensic exams can positively impact a child’s physical and emotional healing after trauma and that healthcare workers are in a unique position to reduce the shame and societal stigma surrounding the topic of sexual abuse. She is currently enrolled in a pediatric nurse practitioner program and plans to continue in the field of child abuse medicine upon graduation.
