Ms. Ferrell received her Master’s in Business Administration with Healthcare Emphasis from University of Texas, Tyler Campus and her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from West Texas A&M University. She has 47 years of experience as a Registered Nurse with extensive practice in Emergency/Trauma Care with the last 40 years also practicing as a Forensic Nurse/Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE). Ms. Ferrell is the Clinical Director, Forensic Nursing Services for the Memorial Hermann Health System in Houston, Texas responsible for the care of both adult and child victims of sexual assault. She has consulted with 18 countries and 26 states providing lectures, education and/or system analysis for professionals, multi-disciplinary teams and communities committed to improving their response for victims of interpersonal violence. Ms. Ferrell was a founding member of the first Children’s Advocacy Center in Texas and her commitment to being a catalyst for change for sexual assault victim response resulted with being featured in SELF magazine. Ms. Ferrell is an accomplished speaker both nationally and internationally and her work has been featured in various publications. She was inducted as a Distinguished Fellow to the International Association of Forensic Nursing in recognition of her humanitarian contributions. Ms. Ferrell is currently serving as the Director of the Forensic Nursing Science Section with the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and has achieved Fellow status in 2021.
